Memorial Day

Happy Memorial Day.
When Livy turned 2, we really started telling her more about her sister Karoline.  We knew she couldn't understand the concept of it all, but I knew that I wanted Olivia to grow up knowing about her big sister, Karoline. She understands that Karoline was "sick" and that she's with Jesus now.  When Livy woke up this morning, we told her we were going to go visit sister's grave. She screamed, "Let's give Karoline a "prize"!" So, she went in her toyroom and grabbed her tiara.  She said, "Sister can have my princess crown."
My heart skipped a few beats as I saw Livy placing the tiara on K's grave.  I'm so thankful Livy is so compassionate for her big sister K.
It will be a glad reunion day when they meet face to face:)

Mommy's Hometown Stroll

This morning we are in Ada (the hometown I grew up in). We took a walk through our old neighborhood. I showed Livy the house I grew up in. I got teary eyed. I'm sad that we're in Ada for my grandfather's funeral, but I'm really enjoying seeing everyone I grew up with. Hug the people you love today. I know I will:)

Bracelets and Necklaces...of the sort.

This morning I stumbed upon a huge bag of beads in Livy's toyroom closet. Derick's grandma gave me a huge bag of beads several months ago and I had never sorted through all of them.  So, today was the day!  I didn't intend to make over 20 necklaces and bracelets but I couldn't STOP!! I even went in Livy's closet and took out all her dresses and outfits and laid them on the kitchen table and started matching beads with all the outfits.
I'm outta CONTROL!
I spent 4 hours working on these.  I have a bigillion beads all over my dining room floor.
I just put Livy down for a nap. I'm gonna drag my sad self to the shower and get ready for the day.  All in all, I'm really happy with how they all turned out.
I like to make Livy a girly girl:)

Pop Corn Balls

Friday night we spent the evening at home as a family.
It was rainy out so we watched River Monsters, played in Livy's toyroom and Derick cooked up some of his fantabulous popcorn balls.  He was raised eating these little delights. I, on the otherhand, had never tasted them til I married Derick.  I think we will make these a family tradition at least once a month.  Here's the recipe.
  • Pop some popcorn over the stove(it's the only way to eat popcorn people)
  • Boil Sorghum(you can use a whole/half jar depending on how much popcorn you pop) You boil it til it get to a soft ball stage.
  • Then add 1 tsp baking soda.
  • Then ya slap that mixture onto your popped porpcorn and start forming into fun little or big balls :)

Then find ya a cute little girl to model these superb delights off:)
